Stephen Howe

Lieutenant Colonel Stephen F. Howe graduated from the State University of New York at Albany in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in American History. He was commissioned through the Siena College Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program as a Regular Army Officer in the Ordnance Corps.  He holds a Masters Degree in Theater Operations from the School of Advanced Military Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  His military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms and Service Staff School, Special Forces Qualification Course, Command and General Staff College, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Ranger School, the Jump Master Course, the resident Defense Support to Civilian Agencies Course, Foundation Instructor Facilitator Course, the University Senior Leader and Military History Instructor Course.

LTC Stephen Howe’s key assignments include Maintenance Platoon Leader, Maintenance Shop Officer, Battalion S2/S3 in the 801st Main Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division;  Commander Operational Detachment Alpha 345, Commander Regional Survey Team, and Battalion S4 in the 2ndBattalion 3rd Special Forced Group (Airborne); Global War on Terror Plans and Operations Officer in the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan; Company Commander (A-1/7) and Battalion Operations Officer in the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne); Regional Engagement Branch East Chief, the Targeting Officer, and the SOJ35 Future Operations Division Chief in Special Operations Command Africa; the Senior Army Advisor to the Adjutant General of the New York Army National Guard; the Professor of Military Science at Carson-Newman University & Lincoln Memorial University.

LTC Howe’s awards include the Bronze Star (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal, Army Expeditionary Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), NATO Campaign Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster). He has earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Ranger Tab, and the Special Forces Tab.

LTC Howe is married with two children.
